Terms & Conditions – Lover of the Light Ceremonies

These Terms & Conditions outline the agreement between Lover of the Light Ceremonies (Christie Barrett) and the couple (“the Clients”) booking celebrant services and/or celebrant-led ceremony and photography services for their wedding. By securing a booking, the Clients agree to the following terms:
1. Booking & Payment
1.1. A £200 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date. The booking is not confirmed until this deposit has been received.
1.2. The remaining balance must be paid no later than 60 days prior to the wedding date.
1.3. Payments must be made by bank transfer (details provided upon booking).
1.4. Failure to pay the balance by the due date may result in the cancellation of services.
2. Services Provided
2.1. Lover of the Light Ceremonies provides the following:
A fully personalised, non-legally binding wedding ceremony
On-the-day coordination (if included in your chosen package)
Celebrant-led wedding ceremony & Full-Day Wedding Photography (if included in your chosen package)
2.2. Photography services are provided by John Barrett Photography and are subject to the additional terms outlined in Section 11.
2.3. The planning process includes:
Initial consultation and ceremony planning (beginning 16 weeks before the wedding)
Three scheduled check-ins (at 12, 10, and 4 weeks)
A dedicated WhatsApp group for ongoing communication
Optional ceremony rehearsal (online or in-person, subject to location)
2.4. The ceremony script will be created in collaboration with the Clients and tailored to suit their style, story, and preferences.
3. Client Responsibilities
3.1. The Clients must ensure that all legal requirements for marriage are completed independently through a register office. The celebrant-led ceremony is symbolic and non-legally binding.
3.2. The Clients must provide accurate details regarding the wedding date, time, venue, and key contacts.
3.3. If a rehearsal is requested, Clients are responsible for ensuring all relevant participants are available.
4. Changes & Cancellations
4.1. Changes to the wedding date or time must be communicated as early as possible. Lover of the Light Ceremonies will do its best to accommodate changes but cannot guarantee availability.
4.2. Client Cancellations:
The £200 deposit is non-refundable
If cancelled less than 60 days before the wedding, no refund will be issued
If cancelled more than 60 days in advance, any balance paid (beyond the deposit) will be refunded
4.3. Celebrant Cancellations:
In the unlikely event that Christie cannot officiate due to illness or emergency, all efforts will be made to find a suitable replacement. If no replacement is available, a full refund including the deposit will be issued.
5. Travel & Accommodation
5.1. Travel expenses within the UK are included.
5.2. Additional travel or overnight stays may be required for long-distance weddings. Any such costs will be agreed in advance and covered by the Clients.
6. Liability & Force Majeure
6.1. Lover of the Light Ceremonies is not liable for events beyond its control (e.g., severe weather, illness, venue disruptions).
6.2. It is the Clients’ responsibility to ensure the venue is safe and suitable for the ceremony.
6.3. The celebrant cannot be held responsible for disruptions caused by third parties.
7. Marketing & Media Consent
7.1. By booking, the Clients give consent for photographs and video footage taken during the ceremony to be used by Lover of the Light Ceremonies for marketing and promotional purposes (social media, website, print).
7.2. If the Clients prefer not to have their images used, they must request this in writing at least 14 days before the wedding.
8. Contact & Communication
8.1. The Clients agree to maintain clear and timely communication throughout the planning process.
8.2. A WhatsApp group will be used to share ideas, updates, and questions during the lead-up to the ceremony.
9. Agreement
By paying the deposit and confirming the booking, the Clients accept and agree to all terms listed here, including those for John Barrett Photography where applicable.
10. Food & Drink
If your chosen package includes on-the-day coordination or photography, the Clients agree to provide a basic meal (gluten-free) and non-alcoholic refreshments for the celebrant and photographer if required on-site for more than 4 hours.
11. John Barrett Photography – Additional Terms
11.1. Coverage: Includes up to 10 hours of photography, from preparations through to the first dance or agreed finishing point.
11.2. Photography Style: John works in a relaxed, documentary style. He may provide light direction for portraits or group shots but focuses on capturing real, natural moments.
11.3. Delivery: Edited digital images will be delivered via a private online gallery within 6-8 weeks of the wedding date.
11.4. Image Rights: John retains the copyright to all images. Clients are granted full personal usage rights for printing, sharing, and downloading.
11.5. Marketing Use: Selected images may be used by John Barrett Photography for marketing unless the Clients request otherwise in writing before the wedding.
11.6. Liability: In the unlikely event of equipment failure or unforeseen issues that prevent photography from being completed, liability will be limited to the cost of the photography portion of the package.
